Volunteering at Holtwood
Once again, summer has passed in a blur and somehow it's autumn. During the summer months we normally try to get out for a team volunteering day locally, so heading out in October we were a bit concerned about getting soaked, but the weather was kind for our day at Holtwood Farm.
Holtwood is a community farm, providing a day service for adults with mental health problems, autism and other learning difficulties. Based on 15 acres of land in the beautiful countryside near our offices in Wimborne, the farm provides a safe and nurturing environment for folks to build confidence and independence, and learn new skills.
We visited as the farm was gearing up for its annual open day, involving hundreds of visitors, games, fancy dress, BBQ, and some seasonal pumpkin picking. Lending a hand preparing for the big event was a great way for us to see what goes on at Holtwood, spend some time outdoors as a team, and give back a tiny bit to the community. We had a lovely warm welcome at Holtwood and hope they'll have us back next year for another day or two.
