At Montacute again
Last year we didn't quite manage to achieve all of our volunteering goals - the weather and our workload conspired against us - so this year we've made a strong start early on with a second volunteering outing. Last month we helped Dorset Mind to clear and establish their new allotments to support people with mental health issues. This time, we were back at Montacute School in Poole, where we've established ourselves something of a reputation as holly-wranglers.
Montacute does amazing work with youngsters with complex learning disabilities. They have some great facilities and some lovely grounds on their site just off Gravel Hill in Poole. Back in 2017 we visited the school to help clear a lot of spiky vegetation out of the grounds to give more space for the children to play and learn, and to allow other plants to flourish. But holly and brambles grow back pretty fast (plus there were a fair few holly trees we didn't get to the first time!), so we were back on site last week armed with saws and shovels to do battle again.
Thanks to Montacute for welcoming us back again :-)
